The Grand Opening of the Permanent Hollywood Slots Facility

On June 28th, 2008, the slot machine establishment that started almost 3 years in a former restaurant in Bangor, Maine is relocating up the street into a grander and comfortable facility as one of Maine's biggest casino development projects seen in recent years nears it completion.

The cost for the construction of the Hollywood Slots establishment has drastically increased from $70 million to $132 million. That cost includes the gaming establishment, a 1,500 car space and a 154 room hotel facility that is expected to open for business late this summer. The art deco-style gaming establishment that occupies 8 acres of land across from Bass Park is allowed by the state to offer 1,500 slot machines but will begin offering 1,000 slot machines.

General Manager John Johnson is hoping that a bigger establishment with more entertainment amenities will attract customers from a wider area, including some customers who might choose to travel to the Foxwoods casino and Mohegan Sun casino establishment in the state of Connecticut.

The temporary racino in the former Miller's restaurants will be closed down before the opening on July 1st, 2008, in time for the by invitation only grand opening of the new facility.
