Pennsylvania Slots Profits Improved by $35 Million

On August 6th, 2008, slots profits in Pennsylvania improved to their 2nd highest level since the state's first legalized casino facility debut two years ago. The 7 state-licensed slots establishments produced $35 million in gross terminal profits on bets of $445 million last week. Both figures were only slightly off below the industry's best week, which happened during the 4th of July holiday week, when gross terminal bets reached around $38 million on bets of $469 million.

Philadelphia Park leads the pack last week with bets of $104 million, almost 12% over the previous week. Mohegan Sun, came down from its pedestal somewhat, after benefiting from the effect of a brand new casino facility that it launched two weeks ago. Bets last week reached around $50 million, an 8% drop from the period before.

Mount Airy stated a total of $48 million in bets, a 1.5% increase. Gross terminal bets improved eight percent to $3.7 million, with a resulting drop in the casino's payout rate half a point to 91.7%. The casino has averaged $43 million in weekly bets since it debut in October 2007. That average continues to improved slowly but in a steady manner.
