Slot Machines in Presque Isle Downs Tested Before Grand Opening

The 1,000 slot machines located in Erie were put to the test on February 24, 2007 to make sure they are working well before the casino race tracks' opening day. The Presque Isle Downs, which is a combination of a casino gaming facility and a horse race track, is scheduled to open next week.

The original opening date of the race tracks was February 15, 2007, but due to legal reasons and the vacancy at the state gaming board, it was delayed. Aside from the chance to play slots, the "racino" will offer additional gambling activities, as well as many restaurants.

Ted Arneault, the owner of Presque Isle Downs, commented that they will be able to attract a substantial amount of customers due to their location which is not far from the Mountaineer area and only 2 hours away from Pittsburgh.

If Presque Isle Downs succeeds in this endeavor, they can earn millions and millions of dollars like those "racinos" that are located in Philadelphia, Wilkes-Barre and Chester. Some members of the state gaming control board will also be present during the trial-run. If there is no problem, the state gaming control board will be holding a final vote and the racino will be ready for their opening next Monday.
