Slots Gambling in Pennsylvania is Risky Business

On February 27, 2007, just as Mr. Louis DeNaples received permission from the state of Pennsylvania to launch the slots casino located in the Mount Airy Lodge in the Poconos, it was announced that a massive tribal casino facility is due to open in Catskills, not far from the Poconos.

The tribe concerned, the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe, is planning to build a casino gaming facility, which is worth $600 million and will serve as an extension of their Monticello horse racing track.

The casino the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe plans to build will have many slot machines and casino table games, including like blackjack, craps and even poker. The casino plan of the tribe already has the support of the Governor of New York. The one thing the plan is lacking is federal approval that will allow the tribe to buy non-tribal land.

For the time being, the Mount Airy Casino will not have any casino table games and it is already a certainty that some customers of the Mount Airy Casino will go to the Mohawk Casino. If this happens, it is a sure thing that the property tax reduction plans of Pennsylvania will also be affected by the fewer customers at the Mount Airy Casino.
