The Expansion of the Georgian Downs Slots Facility

On June 13th, 2008, the much awaited fifty-thousand square foot expansion of the Georgian Downs is finally given the go signal to start. The Innisfil Council voted in favor of an exemption from the final site approval to give permission to the company to the start their $30 million expansion plan.

The representatives of the Great Canadian Gambling Corporation of Richmond, B.C. were present at the meeting that has given approval to the project. Howard Blank, the Great Canadian's vice president of media and entertainment commented that they have received the letter of credit for the project. He said that this will be really beneficial and useful for Innisfil. They currently have four hundred employees and are planning to hire more employees.

They are currently at their maximum capacity during weekends so they have decided to expand their facility. Blanks is 100 percent sure that the casino expansion project will meet the municipal and environmental requirements. He also said that they are prepared to demolish the structure if it will not meet the municipality and environment requirements.

The general manager of Georgian Downs, Chris Roberts commented that they are looking forward to the completion of the project. The Georgian Downs expansion will also increase the slot machines offered at the casino from 451 to 1,000 slot machines. Some of the concerns of the council includes the waste water treatment facility of the facility.
