The first batch of new slot machines arrived on Thursday, August 16th, 2007 at the brand new $142 million dollars Mount Airy Casino Resort in Monroe County. The casino is set to debut this coming October 2007.

Just before 8:00 a.m., a truck containing the first set of slot machines arrived at the Mount Airy resort near Mount Pocono. The official inspector from the Pennsylvania Gaming Board first had to inspect that no one interfered with the seal on the truck. Then after that the first slot machine was carried off from the truck.

Robert Cullen, a slot technician carried the slot machines off of the truck. Cullen said that it was a memorable moment for him. Slot operations director Tim Yahn said that the technicians are rapidly installing the machines.

The technicians will also thoroughly check the interior of the slot machine, put the chips, check the bill receptor, the ticket printer and a whole lot more. By September 15th, 2007, about 2,500 slot machines will be placed on the casino floor and by the end of next year, 500 more slot machines will be added.

The slot machines will be closely monitored by officials. Mount Airy Chief Executive Officer Joseph D'Amato said that the casino will have security 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They also have a signed desk that visitors have to log-in.

There are also surveillance cameras around the gaming floor. The grand opening of the Mount Airy casino is on October 15th, 2007. The gaming complex will also feature a hotel, spa, restaurants, pubs and shops. Raymond Angeli from the Pennsylvania Gaming Board said that the casino is on schedule and they expect no delays on its opening day.

Aside from the slot machines, there will be also different casino games like video poker, blackjack and roulette with virtual dealer. The Mount Airy Casino resort will be the second slots facility to open in the area. The Mohegan Sun at the Pocono Downs opened on November 2006.
