Slots Casino Facility Attracts Pocono 500 Fans

NASCAR Weekend is quickly approaching. Fans are starting to come to Monroe County for the Pocono 500. Some of the fans have been coming to the area for a number of years now, but this year fans will also find a new attraction in the area.

Hotels as far as the Wilkes-Barre area are expected to fill up with racing fans. On June 7, 2007, Ross Kornfeld of the Woodlands said that they are expecting to sell out that night and on Thursday, June 8, 2007 up to Sunday, June 11, 2007.

Hotel establishments, like the Woodlands and the East Mountain Inn, offer a good distance to the Pocono Raceway, as well as the brand new Mohegan Sun Casino at Pocono Downs. Nadine Howe from the East Mountain Inn said that she is sure that the customers will make a stop at the Mohegan Sun.

Customers might take a little time in the evening to go to the casino to relax and unwind. Jim Wise, VP of Marketing at the Mohegan Sun, commented that the casino is reaching out to NASCAR fans with different promotions at the raceway as well as the hotels in the area.

Wise added that the NASCAR Race is a huge tourism opportunity for the area so they are doing everything they can to take advantage of it. The promotions are already bearing some fruit.

NASCAR enthusiasts Rich Henchar and his wife Judy from South Florida checked out the casino that day. Rich Henchar said that they knew that the racing track was there from the previous times that they had visited the Pocono area, but they did not know the casino was there until they had arrived.

The Henchars commented that they have been watching the Pocono 500 for several years now, and apart from watching the race, they will also try out the slot machines. Judy Henchar said that they usually play the Double Diamond Slot Machines so she thinks that the machines will be available there.
