Pompano Park Harness Track Opens its Slots Casino Facility

On April 14, 2007, the Pompano Park Harness Track launched its casino, thus becoming the 3rd casino establishment in Broward County's pari-mutuel facilities to offer slot machines that are similar to the slot machines that can be found on the Las Vegas Strip.

The Pompano Park Harness Track has been renamed to the Isle of Casino and Racing at the Pompano Park. The racing track will feature 1,500 slot machines, the maximum amount of slot machines allowed under state rules. The slot machines will be placed in the newly built, 2-story 157,000 sq ft facility by the Isle of Casino and Racing.

Officials of the racing track decided on the opening date of the racing track immediately after the track passed the final inspection on Friday, April 6, 2007. The race track's doors opened at exactly 10:00 a.m. after the ribbon cutting ceremony.

The Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino located in Hallandale Beach was the first racing track casino to have the slot machines back in November. They were followed 1 month later by the Mardi Gras Racetrack and Gaming Center which is also located in Hallandale Beach. The Dania Jai-Alai Racing Track casino will open in late 2008.
